The textile joints for the exhaust systems are necessary to decouple the main components, such as the diverter, from the adjacent parts. In this way the thermal and atmospheric loads acting on the chimney are discharged onto the specific support structure, and not on the diverter or on the other ducts, causing, distortions and malfunctions.
Metal joints, capable of absorbing thermal displacements, instead serve to decouple the turbine exhaust and the diffuser.
